The Treasurer's Department is responsible for motor vehicle title and registrations, and issues and collects real estate and personal property taxes.

Jefferson County provides an online property tax serach tool. Not all taxes are available.


Pay With a Credit Card

Real estate, personal and mobile home taxes can be paid with a credit card by calling 1(800)272-9829 or by visiting www.officialpayments.com. You will need to use Jurisdiction Code 3603 when prompted. There is a fee for this service and you will be given a payment confirmation number that you should keep for your records. Delinquent Taxes

For information on tax liens from 2015 or prior, please refer to Montana Code Annotated, Title 15, Chapters 16, 17, and 18. For information on tax liens from 2016 going forward, please refer to House Bill 18. For more information on the tax deed process, please also refer to Senate Bill 77.

It is the responsibility of the interested person to conduct their own research of the delinquent tax process prior to purchasing any assignments. If you have questions in regards to tax liens, please consult an attorney. Jefferson County will not provide legal advice of any kind.

The Jefferson County Treasurer's office does not conduct tax sale assignment business during the tax season months of November and May. Tax sale assignment business resumes when the processing of current postmarked mail is complete.
